Any Dream Will Do...

Not a news bulletin: I am so proud of my daughter. Today she received her MFA in fiction from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro's distinguished MFA in Creative Writing Program, realizing a dream which many others pooh-poohed. "Are you sure that's a realistic goal for you, Anna?" an old boyfriend helpfully asked. "But what will you do with that degree?" everyone else asked. "You'll have to get your Ph.D. immediately, or you won't ever get a job" a knowing great aunt advised. Defying them all, she applied and was one of eight (and the youngest) admitted to the highly competitive program. In February she gave a beautiful (and dramatic, of course) reading from her thesis. Now she has the degree and landed the job she wanted. Yep, she's on her way...
